What is Venmo Integration?

Venmo Integration is a Premium feature that allows you to send payment requests directly from Well Kept with a single click. When someone owes you money for shared expenses, you can instantly create a Venmo payment request with all the details pre-filled.


Which plans include Venmo Integration?

  • The Free Plan does not include this feature.

  • The Premium Plan includes full access to Venmo integration.

  • The Lifetime Plan includes full access to Venmo integration.


How to Set Up Venmo Integration

  1. Upgrade to Premium if you have not already subscribed.

  2. Navigate to Settings and select Integrations.

  3. Click the "Connect Venmo" button.

  4. Link your Venmo account by following the prompts.

  5. Add your household members' Venmo usernames in their profile settings.


How to Request Payment via Venmo

  1. Go to the Expenses section and click on Balances.

  2. Find the person who owes you money in the list.

  3. Click "Request Payment via Venmo" next to their balance.

  4. Well Kept will open the Venmo app with the recipient, amount owed, and description pre-filled.

  5. Review the details and tap "Request" within the Venmo app.

  6. The expense is automatically marked as settled in Well Kept.


Requirements

  • Both you and the other person must have active Venmo accounts.

  • The Venmo app must be installed on your device.

  • You must have the member's Venmo username saved in their Well Kept profile.

  • You must have an active Premium or Lifetime subscription.


How It Works

Well Kept uses Venmo's official deep linking API to create payment requests. When you click "Request Payment," the app generates a link with transaction details and opens Venmo automatically. Once you confirm and send the request in Venmo, Well Kept syncs the settlement status.

  • Well Kept never stores your Venmo password or credentials.

  • The app uses Venmo's official API for secure transactions.

  • All payments are processed entirely through Venmo's secure platform.

Adding Household Members' Venmo Usernames

To send Venmo requests, you need to add their usernames:

  1. Go to Settings and select Household Members.

  2. Click on a member's name to edit their details.

  3. Find the Venmo Username field.

  4. Enter their handle (e.g., @john-smith-123).

  5. Click Save to update their profile.


Troubleshooting


Problem: "Request Payment" button is grayed out

  • Verify that you have an active Premium subscription.

  • Check that the household member's Venmo username is saved.

  • Ensure that there is actually a positive balance owed.


Problem: Venmo app doesn't open

  • Make sure the Venmo app is installed on your device.

  • Update Venmo to the latest version available in the app store.

  • Check that deep linking is enabled in your device settings.

  • Try restarting your device.


Problem: Amount or description is wrong

  • Double-check the expense amounts recorded in Well Kept.

  • Verify that the split calculations are correct.

  • You can manually edit the details in Venmo before sending the request.


Problem: Payment not marking as settled

  • Manually mark the expense as settled in Well Kept if the sync fails.

  • Check your internet connection.

  • Allow up to 5 minutes for the sync to complete.

  • Can I use Venmo on the Free Plan? No, this is a Premium-only feature. Free plan users can still track expenses and settle them manually.

  • Does Well Kept charge fees? No, Well Kept does not charge fees. However, Venmo's standard fees may apply if you fund payments via credit card.
